The continuous past tense
ચાલુ ભૂતકાળ ના ઉપયોગ:
· ભૂતકાળ માં થયેલી બે ક્રિયા ઓ પૈકી જે ક્રિયા ચાલતી હોય તે ક્રિયા ચાલુ ભૂતકાળ માં આવે છે.
EX. When I reached school, prayer was going on(ચાલુ હતી).
· ક્રિયા ના સમય પર ભાર ના મુકતા ક્રિયા ના સાતત્ય ઉપર ભાર મુકાય ત્યારે ચાલુ ભૂતકાળ મુકાય છે.
EX. I was reading the novel all the day.
આખો દીવસ હું નવલકથા વાંચી રહ્યો હતો.
· ભૂતકાળ ની કોઈ ટેવ કે વર્તમાન પ્રત્યે અણગમો રજુ કરવા માટે ચાલુ ભૂતકાળ નો ઉપયોગ થાય છે.
EX. Rashmika was always telling lie.
રશ્મિકા હમેશા જૂઠ્ઠું બોલે છે.

Active voice વાક્યરચના:
હકાર :
કર્તા+ was / were +ક્રિયાપદ નું ing વાળું રૂપ + કર્મ + અન્ય શબ્દ.
નકાર :
કર્તા+ was / were +not + ક્રિયાપદ નું ing વાળું + કર્મ + અન્ય શબ્દ.
પ્રશ્નાર્થ :
Was / were + કર્તા + ક્રિયાપદ નું ing વાળું + કર્મ + અન્ય શબ્દ + ?
Ex. 1.
Ø It was raining at this time yesterday.
Ø It was not raining at this time yesterday.
Ø Was it raining at this time yesterday?
Ex. 2.
